The Fiber HUT/HUB Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of fiber-optic HUT/HUB equipment and associated infrastructure. This role ensures the optimal performance of the ISP’s network by managing, monitoring, and maintaining the HUT/HUB facilities that house critical networking hardware. The technician works closely with the network engineering team to ensure reliable and high-speed internet service delivery to customers. |
- HUT/HUB Equipment Management: Install, configure, and maintain HUT/HUB equipment, including optical transmitters, receivers, routers, switches, optical line terminals (OLTs), and other networking devices.
- Network Monitoring: Monitor network performance using network management systems and tools to ensure optimal performance and reliability. Quickly identify and resolve any issues or anomalies.
- Fiber Optic Infrastructure Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and testing of fiber-optic cabling, connectors, and equipment to ensure the integrity and performance of the network.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network-related issues at the HUT/HUB. Coordinate with other departments and vendors to address complex technical problems.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of all HUT/HUB equipment, network configurations, and maintenance activities. Update network diagrams and documentation as needed.
- Quality Assurance: Conduct regular inspections and testing of HUT/HUB equipment and fiber-optic infrastructure to ensure compliance with industry standards and ISP quality requirements.
- Security Management: Ensure HUT/HUB facilities and equipment are secure from unauthorized access and tampering. Monitor and respond to security alarms and alerts.
- Emergency Response: Respond to network outages and emergencies, performing necessary repairs and restorations in a timely manner to minimize service disruptions.
- Collaboration: Work closely with network engineers, field technicians, and other ISP staff to coordinate upgrades, expansions, and network changes.
- Compliance: Ensure all HUT/HUB operations adhere to local, state, and federal regulations, as well as company policies and safety standards.

- Associate's degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field. Equivalent work experience may be considered.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience working with fiber-optic networks, HUT/HUB equipment, and broadband infrastructure, preferably in an ISP or telecommunications environment.
- Proficiency in working with fiber-optic splicing, testing, and troubleshooting.
- Strong understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, MPLS, OSPF, BGP) and network equipment (routers, switches, OLTs).
- Experience with network monitoring tools and systems (e.g., SNMP, NMS).
- Familiarity with electrical wiring, cabling, and grounding practices.
- Relevant certifications such as Certified Fiber Optic Technician (CFOT), Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), or similar are preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Must have a valid Georgia Driver’s License.
- Must pass GreyStone Power’s pre-employment physical, criminal background check, and reference check.

Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Comfortable working in confined spaces, elevated platforms, and HUT/HUB environments. Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and on-call shifts as needed.
