Financial Analyst

Job Summary:

Responsible for supporting the Senior Financial Analyst in delivering comprehensive financial analysis, reporting, and operational monitoring for GreyStone Power and its subsidiary (the Corporation).  Assists with developing and maintaining financial models, conducting variance analysis, and preparing annual budgets and forecasts. Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements including those established by the Rural Utilities Service (RUS) and contribute to the Corporation strategic planning, rate case analysis, and other key financial initiatives that advance the missions of the Corporation.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Creates financial models for future financial performance of the Corporation, including the development of scenarios and “what ifs” that explore the variations and risks inherent within the models.
  • Coordinates and manages the preparation of the Corporation’s annual budget. Assists departments and work groups in the review of budget reports and in preparation of annual capital expense and activity budgets.
  • Assist in the development of key financial performance indicators for use by Executives and the Board of Directors.
  • Support the maintenance and optimization of the Corporation’s financial platform (Prophix), including monitoring data accuracy, identifying system issues or enhancement opportunities, coordinating with IT and vendor teams for resolution, and ensuring financial processes and reporting workflows operate smoothly within the platform.
  • Interpret the NRUCFC Key Ratio Trend Analysis (KRTA) Ratios annual report.
  • Coordinates and manages the development and analysis of the ALDC Benchmarking annual report.
  • Assist in coordinating all aspects of loan transactions with lenders by supporting the preparation and submission of loan applications and draws, facilitating asset sales, processing release of lien applications, and helping ensure compliance with all loan-related procedures.
  • Responsible for the cash management of the Corporation investments and loan fund requisitions.
  • Reviews monthly board reports and researches and reviews special board requests.
  • Ensures effective implementation and continuous improvement of financial controls, annual budgets, and accounting and auditing procedures designed to monitor, report, validate, evaluate, and assess the financial and business condition of the Corporation.
  • Performs duties in accordance with applicable policies, rules, regulations, and bylaws pertaining to the Corporation.
  • Services members and customers by taking appropriate action on requests and questions promptly and ensures they are treated with courtesy at all times.
  • Maintains effective communications with all departments and work groups to assure coordinated effort and understating in carrying out objectives and works to obtain mutual agreement on problems involving coordination.
  • Performs such other duties as may be requested or assigned to fulfill the needs of the Corporation in the interest of good business practices.

Required Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
  • Three or more years of financial analytical experience, preferably with an electric utility.
  • Strong interpersonal skills that allow for establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with members, customers, management, and other employees.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form.
  • Proficient knowledge of personal computer skills that include financial spreadsheets, word processing, inquiry, and data entry.
  • Knowledge and ability in planning, organizing, and coordinating a variety of activities to obtain maximum results.
  • Ability to prepare and present reports, work plans, budget estimates, and performance records.
  • Knowledge of financial statements and other financial and accounting relationships that may be useful for forecasting, budgeting, etc.
  • Participation in technical, professional, and community activities for networking and/or educational purposes.
  • Assume other activities and responsibilities as directed.
  • Attend meetings as requested.

Physical Demands (if applicable):

General office environment with frequent interruptions and considerable pressure. Requires flexibility to report if called to work in disaster situations.
